A STUDY OF “EXTROVERTED” ENCLOSURES.
Over the course of a research internship with the TallWood Design Institute, I researched and compiled design strategies that support the longevity of mass timber structures through effective envelope detailing.
I performed literature reviews, analyzed construction documentation, and led interviews with expert designers in the field. i used these investigations to co-author a manuscript that was published in Architectural Engineering and Design Management in 2019.
The peer-reviewed publication is viewable here.
These renderings demonstrate examples the best practices in detailing envelopes of mass timber structures.
